UniHealth Foundation, an independent private healthcare foundation, is committed to becoming a pace-setter in healthcare philanthropy, supporting innovative activities while provoking and sustaining changes that positively impact health. The Foundation prioritizes funding innovative and sustainable programs that serve the most vulnerable populations and those with the greatest need in Southern California and beyond. Reflecting the Foundation’s three funding strategies and its commitment to supporting the many physical, mental, social, and communal aspects of community and individual well-being, grantees are diverse. They range from direct service providers to wellness-focused programs to organizations addressing the social determinants of health. UniHealth catalyzes and sustains change that positively impacts health over the long term. With a history of impactful grantmaking and fostering collaborative partnerships, the Foundation creates connections, collaboration, and inspiration across the healthcare continuum.

​UniHealth Foundation has been a strategic custodian of the funds it manages in service to the community. UniHealth’s investment portfolio totals approximately $325 million. Disbursing 5% each year, the Foundation anticipates granting about $15.5 million in the fiscal year 2025. The projected operational budget is approximately $3 million. UniHealth seeks a Director of Accounting and Finance (Director) to further its mission and objectives by developing financial strategies and managing a substantial endowment for maximum impact. As the organization’s senior finance executive, the Director will report to and collaborate with the President and Chief Operating Officer, act as a Foundation officer, and be an integral part of the engaged, cooperative, and efficient Executive Leadership Team. An experienced accountant will assist this hands-on leader in the department's daily operations to uphold financial integrity, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance operational efficiency. By blending technical skills with effective communication, they will manage the organization’s reporting, internal controls, and investment oversight, and act as a resource for the Board of Directors.

This position presents a distinctive chance for significant impact and professional advancement. After cultivating a comprehensive understanding of the Foundation’s financial operations and demonstrating expertise, the Director will have opportunities to broaden their responsibilities, potentially leading to a promotion to a higher role with expanded enterprise-wide influence.
UniHealth Foundation offers a highly competitive compensation package that includes an annual salary ranging from $170,000 to $210,000, enhanced by a discretionary, performance-based bonus opportunity; a 15% yearly contribution to the employer-sponsored IRA; and an attractive benefits package featuring 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for staff and their dependents, along with paid time off. The final offer will depend on various factors, including educational qualifications, training, years of experience, and performance in prior positions.
UniHealth recently acquired and is renovating a building in Pasadena that will serve as the Foundation’s headquarters. Located near the heart of Old Town, the city’s commercial center, the new space is designed to accommodate the Foundation staff and promote collaboration by providing suites for community partners and a small conference center. The team will remain in Glendale until the Foundation relocates, which is scheduled for fall 2025.

As an active and visible team member, the Director is expected to be a presence and resource on-site. Remote work is both permitted and anticipated as part of this role. Currently, the team works in the office at least two days a week. Once the move to Pasadena is complete, all Foundation staff will work on-site three days a week.
