The Organization

At the heart of Orange County's nonprofit sector, OneOC serves as a strategic hub that mobilizes volunteers, companies, and community partners to accelerate nonprofit success.

OneOC envisions a community in which nonprofits possess an abundance of resources, skills, and connections to deliver on their missions effectively. For over 65 years, it has worked to turn that vision into reality. Founded in 1958 as the Volunteer Bureau of Newport Harbor by the Junior League, OneOC has evolved from its initial focus on volunteerism into a multifaceted capacity-building organization that supports nonprofit organizations, companies, and community stakeholders through an integrated, increasingly sophisticated suite of services. Rebranded in 2010, the organization expanded its efforts to include professional services aimed at strengthening infrastructure. In 2015, it launched its Center for Business & Community Partnerships to deepen engagement with the corporate sector. Today, OneOC operates at the intersection of nonprofits, corporations, volunteers, and strategic partners, catalyzing resources, expertise, and relationships to meet the complex and evolving needs of the communities served by Orange County's nonprofits.

OneOC focuses on turning a community's potential into a tangible abundance of resources, ensuring that nonprofit organizations have the tools, personnel, and knowledge to succeed.

OneOC has developed a distinctive operating model that integrates capacity building, community engagement, and outsourced operational support for nonprofits. Its service portfolio spans organizational consulting, board development, and professional training—including access to more than 600 virtual, in-person, and hybrid courses, webinars, and workshops through the OneOC Nonprofit Learning Center—alongside a robust suite of back-office solutions including accounting, human resources, and fiscal sponsorship—enabling nonprofit organizations to strengthen their internal capabilities while maintaining focus on programmatic impact. Through retained and fee-based services, the organization functions as an extension of its nonprofit partners, providing critical administrative and operational functions that many organizations lack the scale or resources to maintain independently. This approach reflects a deliberate commitment to supporting members and to a sustainable, earned-revenue model that balances fee-for-service delivery with philanthropic and public support.

Equally central to OneOC's work is its ability to bridge the nonprofit and business communities. Through corporate social responsibility advisory services, skills-based volunteer programs, and signature initiatives such as the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards—which celebrated its 50th year this year—the Community Cup, and Days of Service, OneOC connects companies and their employees to meaningful community engagement opportunities while advancing nonprofit missions. The Civic 50 Orange County, an initiative of Points of Light in partnership with OneOC, recognizes the most community-minded companies in the region and has become a defining platform for elevating corporate civic leadership across Orange County. Volunteerism is at the heart of OneOC's work, encompassing skills-based volunteer placements, team- and event-based service projects, and community-based programs such as the Community Service Referral Program, which partners with the Orange County courts to place individuals in nonprofit organizations, expanding the available human capital while supporting rehabilitation and community reintegration. Together, these programs form one of the region's most comprehensive volunteer ecosystems, connecting individuals, teams, and companies to meaningful service at every level of engagement.

OneOC's scale and impact are extensive. In 2025, the organization mobilized over 8,800 volunteers, supported more than 900 nonprofit organizations, and engaged over 200 companies across Orange County, resulting in more than 204,000 hours of service and generating over $7.6 million in community value. That same year, OneOC facilitated more than 1,500 community outreach and connection points, created over 1,800 service and funding opportunities, and welcomed 258 new nonprofits and companies into its network. OneOC's signature events attracted more than 2,400 attendees. They engaged 264 nonprofits and companies, while its fiscal sponsorship program supported over 50 charitable projects in sectors including human services, health, philanthropy, education, the environment, the arts, and animal welfare across Southern California. The organization also maintained a 75% retention rate among partner organizations, achieved a 63% net promoter score, and delivered an average of 1.77 services per organization, demonstrating the depth, consistency, and effectiveness of its engagement throughout its network.

The Opportunity

OneOC seeks a talented President and Chief Executive Officer to provide forward-looking leadership and strategic direction, building on its successful foundation as a trusted partner to the nonprofit sector across Orange County. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this leader will set strategic direction, build organizational capacity, and ensure OneOC is well-positioned to advance its mission of accelerating nonprofit success throughout the region. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with strong management skills and business acumen, capable of shaping OneOC's strategic vision and translating it into sustained, measurable outcomes. Beyond operational and external capabilities, this leader must be a genuine visionary, able to look at an organization with a proud history and many future opportunities and see the path ahead with clarity and conviction. This is an opportunity to lead a distinctive organization at a pivotal moment—one where focused, entrepreneurial leadership can sharpen OneOC's impact, raise its profile, and extend its reach as an indispensable resource for a sector that continues to grow in complexity and importance. The CEO will ensure the organization meets and exceeds its development goals, cementing OneOC's role as a recognized leader and trusted partner across Orange County and beyond.

The central mandate for the next CEO is to sustain the trust and quality that define OneOC, while helping the organization evolve to meet growing demand and opportunity. This leader will deliver on current priorities while shaping the future capabilities, partnerships, and strategy required for OneOC’s next chapter.

Executing this mandate requires a leader with three equally essential and complementary capabilities. Externally, the next CEO must be a visible, deeply networked presence across Orange County—someone who brings established relationships in the nonprofit sector, understands the corporate community, and can convert those connections into partnerships, contracts, and sustained revenue. Strategic relationship‑building and commercial acumen, along with a growth orientation and strong community presence, will be indispensable. Equally important, this leader will reframe how the corporate community understands its relationship with OneOC. They will position the organization not as a recipient of charitable goodwill but as a strategic investment that delivers measurable returns in employee engagement, community impact, and civic leadership. The substantive knowledge required to serve as a trusted consultant and thought partner to nonprofit leaders is not incidental to success in this role; it is central. Sector fluency is earned through demonstrated understanding of the challenges nonprofits face and the practical solutions that help them thrive. Internally, the next chief executive must also bring the operational discipline that a professional services organization demands—sharpening service lines, building coordinated, accountable teams, and ensuring the infrastructure needed to deliver on member commitments at scale. No single capability is sufficient on its own; all three must be present and integrated in nearly equal measure.

OneOC's President and CEO will serve as a trusted partner and spokesperson for Orange County's social sector. This executive will strengthen connections with community leaders, government representatives, private-sector partners, and philanthropic stakeholders—recognizing how organizations can collaborate to advance their missions and build mutually beneficial partnerships. The CEO will understand the link between OneOC's revenue and its ability to strengthen the broader sector and will prioritize the well-being of Orange County's nonprofit community in every decision. This leader will inspire confidence, offer vision, find common ground, and leverage strong local support to advance the organization's work across all service areas. OneOC will remain a crucial strategic partner in regional civic life by applying its expertise, delivering essential services, and deepening connections across the nonprofit landscape.

The next CEO will have the opportunity to do more than sustain OneOC's work—they will help define what the organization aspires to become: not only the region's most trusted provider of nonprofit professional services, but a recognized convener, thought leader, and civic force whose influence shapes the health of Orange County's entire nonprofit ecosystem. Balancing these dimensions of OneOC's identity—professional services enterprise and sector-wide catalyst—is among the most meaningful aspects of this leadership opportunity. The CEO will bring the vision and strategic clarity to pursue both with intention, restoring OneOC's standing among the region's most influential civic organizations and ensuring it remains an indispensable partner to the sector for decades to come.
